Glossary of Terms and Services

 

 

Appointments 101      

Hearing Tests - are specific portions of a hearing evaluation and generally deal with the extent of hearing loss

Hearing Evaluations – usually take about an hour and deal with the extent and etiology of hearing loss

Hearing Aid Consultation – time can vary greatly, plan for half an hour.  We will be glad to answer your questions about costs, warranties, care of a hearing aid, whether a hearing aid is right for you or if an alternative would better address your hearing needs.

Re-tubing/Repair – You can reduce your wait time by scheduling an appointment.  If you don’t have an appt. you may be asked to either wait or leave the instrument and we will call when it is ready.  In office re-tubing/repairs are usually done within 24 hours.

Reprogram – A recent audiogram, and an appointment are highly recommended to reprogram your hearing aid for maximum benefit.  Time can vary greatly, but plan for about half an hour.

 

 

 

Hearing Aid Terminology

 

RITE:  Receiver (speaker) in the Ear *   (Far right)

BTE:  Behind the Ear *   (Middle right)

ITE: In the Ear*   (Middle)

ITC: In the Canal  (Middle left)

CIC: Completely In the Canal  (Far left)

* These provide the most benefit and are thus the most common styles.


 

Battery Sizes  

#13 – Orange 

#10 – Yellow  

#312 – Brown 

#675 – Blue
